Today franzisca and i planbed to go to galle for the day. We had a little but of a lie in and had breakfast at around 8:30am. Even though my body clock woke me up at the usual 7am haha. We then had a little rest, i finished the third book ive read here! And packed all our stuff ready to go. We set off at 10am and got the first bus to galle, it was a nice journey, not too crowded and took about an hour. Weather wise it was beautiful all day, the sun was shining and there was a really nice breeze that kept you from completely sweating to death haha. 

When we got to galle we headed straight for the fort, i had been a couple times before so i showed franzisca round. However, i realised i had only been to half the fort! We kept going round and i found the other half i hadnt explored! It was beautiful! I dont think many people know about it because it was just the two of us there! It was so green, with the ancient ruins of the fort just sitting there! It was really good to walk around and take loads of pictures. I think this teip to galle was my facourite purely because you could explore every part of this old fort without restriction, we were jumping onto ledges, going under rock arches, walking along the ramparts etc. it was really nice. 

After all that exploring we headed back to the center of the fort – i dont know if i have explained it before but its basically a village inside the fort. With banks, jewellers, hotels, house ect ect. When you walk around it, it almost reminds you of europe! Its got that shabby, stylish feel. Like italy. (Even though ive never been to italy, it reminds me of films set in italy haha). Yeah so we got an ice cream and then went to a cafe and i had an iced mocha which was amazing. It was really good to sit and take in the niceness of the whole place. We then went shopping a little but and i got a large scrapbook to which i can transfer all this blog onto when im home ☺️

After that we went back to the city, it was weird to see just a few hundred metres and you were back into the bustling city life! We then got an A/C bus back and now  chilling out in my room 👌 just a really lovely day 😘

well its saturday. And today was really nice. Franzisca and i started the day by catching a bus to hikkaduwa – an A/C bus, but it was PACKED. i had to squeeze myself between a few sri lankans and it wasnt that comfortable, but after about twenty mins some got off and i got a seat 🙌 we got to hikkaduwa and headed straight to the snorkelling shop. I always use the same guy so he gives me a real good price ☺️ we got ready and headed out on a fishermans boat to the rocks out at sea. The water was literally crystal clear, the past times i havent been able to see much because the waves churn up the sand but today was so gentle, almost still!! And you could see everything. It was amazing to see all the corals cut into the ocean floor, with so many beautiful fish swimming around. I even saw a few new fish! Pufferfish are my fave i think, i saw a really big one of those. We also commondeered a danish woman to go on the trip as well haha. Also, because it was so calm, we could get onto the rocks and chill out for a few minutes. This was where the guid said, hey do you wanna jump off the rocks? Ofcourse i said YES. So i followed this guy up this massive rock in the middle of the ocean, it was really slippy but i made it to the top. So he takes me to the cliff, and shows me where to jump, but i cant see rocks. He says there is a rock to the left and to the right, and i need to jump in the middle to avoid death. Literally. And so i record with my camera a final goodbye, and leap into the water. It was amazing haha so much fun. I wish i could upload the video but my camera only has a card and i havent got my macbook 😫 then we headed back to the beach and we went snorkelling where the shallow corals are, again we spotted the turtle!! It was amazing to swim with it again, i forget how big it is!! You know just swimming with 50 year old turtles has just become athe standard thing to do now haha, we took loooads of pics and then we headed back to pay and chill on the beach. We then got lunch – obviosly spaghetti carbonara and a milkshake for me, and then we sunbathed for ages. We got a really good place on the beach, away from most of the tourists. When i went in the water, it was surrounded by small boats, the water was as clear as the sky and i just stayed in the water for like half an hour 😹 it was SO NICE. 

Then having topped up our tans we headed back on a bus, which was the scariest bus journey i have ever been on seriously. It was like a rollercoaster, we almost dies like ten times. It took half the time it usually takes to get back home and so we had a shower, calmed down and now im sittinng in the office because its the only room with air conditioning haha its been ssooooo hot today honestly. So yeah it was a really nice day, very relaxing, very ‘take in the beautiful surroundings’ type of day. I will sleep well tonight i think though!

TGIF. Starting the weekend oooh yas. Today we fed the turtles again, i dont think they will be fed til monday so they better had of eaten til they were full! Haha. We then proceeded to take tours, and have lunch. I then started the weekend by going to ambalangoda (the nearest town). 

Of which i got the best haircut ever – at 100 rupees. Yes thats right, thats 50p folks. Bargain. I also got some stuff from the supermarket and took the bus home, although it was the wrong bus and i had to walk the last 5km. 😪

Now im ready for tea and bed, to go to hikkaduwa tomorrow!

So last night i corgot to post a blog.. Oops! So:

Day 55-

This morning we woke to burying nests and some more filming! Really getting into this filming lark 😏 after that we went teaching – i took the boys on my own and there were only 5 kids so i could control them and we did so much work! It was really good so i took them outside to play ☺️ after that we came home and went to bed! I was knackered!!!

Day 56 –

So this is today haha, we woke to go to the hatchery and feed the turtles. But we had to wait for a group of students to feed them. The group that came was annoying. The woman who brings students has come before (its a school in dubai) and she just picks up the babies, pick up the big’uns and letd the kids play with the babies?! Wtf?! Shes supposed to be a biologist!! Also they had lunch and we were secondard to the small reception room to eat ours! No one told her not to touch the turtles and its not really the volunteers place apparently. Just thinking this conservation site may have confused its intentions with tourism lately 😪 after the rigmoral with them, we went teaching. It was disasterous. I cant control these children! The boys are unruly, mainly because the disruptive kids came back. So there was NO play. Hopefully next week we will work harder – i live in hope. We came back and i took a very lovely french tour. And then babies hatched!! It was the first time i saw babies coming out the sand by themselves, it was so beautiful!! And then we released some babies, which was equally as nice, the sunset was beaut. Although a couple of babies were snatched by eagles haha thats nature!!! We then had tea snd now im watching GI Joe, the worlds worst movie 😹☺️

Well just realised i am fully into the second half of my trip 😫 still loving it here, having so much fun – no matter that ive run out of money haha 😉 yeah everyday just reminds me of what a beautiful country this is. It rained yesterday but today was a scorcher. Honestly it was sooooo hot. We did some more filming, i am getting used to this in front if camera thing haha. The host is pretty cool – hes the celeb, i dont know who he is but appaz hes big in germany. We cleaned the tanks – which took 10 times as long because the filming crew had to take, retake and retake everything haha. It was fun though, being all wired up with sound and stuff. So yeah can fully expect to be on german tv!!! SPEAKING! Yeaaah boy. I still dont know the details of the bbc thing as of yet – i will look into that.
So yeah we had an abundance of cake at lunch and then had omelettes, yes in that order ha! Then we didnt have long before we went teaching. We went to the usual temple, i took the 5 kids. They are so so clever. I tried verbs, adjectives, superlatives… They knew everything. So i tried syllables and that was just about the only thing they didnt do. But they got it straight away. Literally 30 mins of teaching and thy could do haiku’s haha. So then i took em outside to play whats the time mr wolf. They loved it ☺️ and so did i. The kids here are so amazing. It makes me want to become an english teacher in a foreign country – or perhaps biology because even i cant speak english that well. Hhahaha 😹
We returned home on the bus and managed to get some time to chill.
We then got to release 25 baby green turtles, with the camera crew ofcourse. I cant wait to see it on tv! Good nights sleep is ahead now as we part mattias a fond farewell 😪

Today was yet another normal day at la hatchery! Mondays are always hard because its work again haha. (Work – lol)
Basically we fed the turtles, and took some tours round. And then the german filming came again to interview dudley – as well as the celeb (dont get your hopes up its not david attenborough, just some german star ive never heard of haha) i was taking the lead role of sweeper 😏
After that they went home and i released 18 baby olive ridleys with a couple that came earlier. They were really nice – a barnsley lad and a polish girl, living in kuwait? What a weird combo! Seem to get a lot of strange mixes, earlier last week i took around a canadian woman with an italian husband, living in colombo haha.
After that we went back to the house and watched men in black 3, and mission impossible haha.

This weekend has been one of chillaxing. Just literally, sleeping, eating, sunbathing, listening to music and reading aha.
Well, except yesterday some filming went on (i cant go into detail as my contract prohibits me splashing the details).
Other than that i think a certain celebrity will be attending the hatchery – details i couldnt possibly reveal. Haha

Oops another day missed – not my fault, the wordpress app failed on me haha. Wow the days now begin with a 5. Wtf.
I literally have no idea where the time has gone!! Today (or yesterday as it happens) i woke up to a normal friday. I havent planned to do anything this weekend so i will be staying here and chilling out. We ‘worked’ the hatchery but didnt do much haha, just read, sunbathed and finished a book ☺️ i was laid out on the beach and it was just the nicest weather ever. There was a slight breeze, no clouds and just a perfect temperature. Book in hand, lifting my head to see i was the only one on this private beach! BLISS.
After a few meals and snacks haha we had tea and then some german filming had visited. Theyre going to be here until wednesday shooting some clips for a chat show in germany – fame and stardom AGAIN. im going international haha 😹 naa i dont know how they will be to work with, the bbc were really good so theyll have a lot to live up to ☺️
After a good ol’ chat with the camera crew i went to bed ☺️

Today was good! We woke up and fed the turtles 🐢 i showed another British group around and carried on with a normal day! The weather is comfortable now, although i thought today was a bit hot. Going back to the uk will be such a shock to my body haha, i think ive fully acclimatised to this heat!!!
We set off for teaching after lunch and we decided to split the boys and gurls into two classes, sue taking the gurls, and matt and i taking the boys. The boys were SO much better than yesterday. They behaved and actually got through a lot of work, after the work i even got to play cricket with them! That was fun, even though i have no idea how to play cricket haha so i offered myself as bowler because thats pretty easy.
I cant believe ive been here for nearly 6 weeks!! Honestly its flown by. The amount i have gained already from this trip is just amazing. Well halfway through! Hope people arnt getting bored of these blogs 😹😹😹the pic ive attached is of a bus, this is what they look like on the inside, a jittery, rollercoaster that overtakes lorries with oncoming traffic haha, luckily this one was empty.. Usually you can barely get a seat!

I think i am finally overcoming my illness now, i get a few headaches and my nose is blocked but i think its nearing its end thank god 🙌
Today we woke to no babies 👎 and we just chilled at the hatchery and read our books! A right little bookworm now me 😏 i took a nice british tour round and then sue and i headed for teaching at kosgoda school. The kids were unruly, terrible and uncontrollable 😹😹 i took the lead of teacher today and decided to teach them areas of shapes because it worked well with the monks at the temple… But because i had become their friend, i dont think the role of teacher struck the kids as myself so they just went crazy haha. Tomorrow hopefully should be a better lesson as we need to just think of some sort of discipline.
After that we came home, i took a tour round and then we ate tea… Matt went to get a vaccine today and he came back later, now im going to get an early night because for some reason i am shattered!!!
