Sorry blogging has become quite lazy over the past couple of days but i am ill 😷😷😫 just had the worst head cold/flu ive ever had!!! How can you get a cold in sri lanka i have no idea. Yesterday i came back from una and just rested all day – tried to sort out student finance but then the site went down?! God. And today i have just been trying to stay alive.. Got a couple of presents in the post from the wonderful megan carr though which brightened up my day ❤️❤️

As i mentioned briefly, this morning was hell. I havent had a hangover in a month and wow it hit hard! I have literally spent all day in the hotel room and sometimes nipping out to get a fanta haha such a lazy day!! I managed to eat the biggest sandwich ever and that made me feel a bit better though 👌
I went out for a bit in the afternoon and got some carbonara, i then went back to the hotel and got ready for night number 2 in celebration!

The valentines parties!!! I enjoyed a good few more vodka cokes and the sweet sounds of ‘dj shaggy’ hahahhaha 😹
I am now writing the next day because last night i wasnt able to write a post, putting it nicely i was a bit too drunk!
Again hungover, i rose from the dead and headed back to kosgoda where i am now trying to get some tanning done 🙌

TGIF! Well today we woke to feeding the turtles! How exciting haha jokes, but it was just me and sue so the banter was good ☺️ poor ol’ matt is very ill! 👎 took quite a while just two of us feeding, oh and sue buried some eggs!! Green and olive ridleys 👍
Towards the end of feeding i took a very lovely chinese tour round, they were so interested and the guys said they might come volunteer! #besttourguideever. So yeah then a bloody bus load of children came – literally two buses FULL! They didnt speak english very well so luckily we didnt have to explain everything, prsantha did that 👌
Yeah so we had lunch and i packed for UNAWATUNA! My fave place ☺️ i got to the hotel and its pretty nice, just standard really but in a good location!
I settled down, then headed out to part-ay. I went to the beach and cruised along the bars, most of them looking pretty good but i found one that is super cool. They dont have chairs just like cushion things on the floor, reggae playing all night and fairy lights everywhere! Loving it!!! So chilled out ☺️👌
From here, i am writing the next morning and let me tell you.. I am not feeling 100%. I went to a party after the chilled place and it was just drinking, sisha, and dancing until 3:30am 😫😫😫 i am so so dead. Please god help me recover quickly.

MY BIRTHDAY BITCHES.
Yes its the big 1 9 today!!! 🎉🎉🎉
Cant believe i have been here for so long! Just enjoying every second!
I woke up at the usual time today, just standard you know go to breakfast as normal then POW. Whiteboard message then sotting down, i received a beautiful swiss roll for breakfast with a big ass candle in it.. And party hats.. And a rubber blow up tyre for this weekend! Thanks go to my lovely volunteer family sue matt yegor and lisa ❤️❤️❤️ so that was a good way to start the day!
We then headed to the hatchery where wije and dudley wished me happy birthday ☺️ there were 61 olive ridleys that hatched so they all share my birthday too!!! we fed the turtles and then i took a couple hours to sun myself on the beach and swim in the ocean 👌 after a shower and lunch (4 tiered sandwiches – my fave) we headed for teaching.
As soon as we got there the kids had written happy birthday jack on the chalkboard and were all wishing me happy birthday 🙈 SO CUTE. But then!
They all started giving me gifts!!!! I think i got about 20 bars of chocolate in the end hahaha as well as a card, calendar, and ornament!!! I bloody love those kids they’re such cutie pies 🙌👏 we taught them english and i went outside to play with them after ☺️ its so much fun! There were some local kids as well that joined in and i promised next week we would play cricket ☺️ just such a lovely feeling that these children thought to get us a choccy bar when they are so young! Fills me little heart with joy 😇
After pasta for tea- of which i requested! We went to the beach to release turtles!! Then We went to the beach for FIREWORKS! 🎉 Wije bloody let one off in his hand!!! He burnt his thumb but he was lucky!! Yeah so 25 fireworks later and we finished the vodka ☺️☺️☺️ such a nice day all thanks to the lovely people here ❤️

Hello! So today we fed the turtles again! 🐢 theyre happy little guys now!
Matt and i then went crab hunting – a sport that you are born with and you cannot learn. It went well, a few huge crabs and then we went to the rocks where there were hundreds of the buggers but those were fast as! They jumped as well hahaha 😹
After that i sunbathed and took a dip in the ocean and then we went teaching ☺️ love teaching at the school the kids are so much fun!
Matt and i then went to aluthgama where i bought some booze and fireworks for tomorrow! What a good mix 😉
Looking forward to tomorrow, if i havent mentioned its my birrrttthhhddaaayyy

What an exciting morning!!! THE BBC CAME TO THE HATCHERY! Yes i am going to be on tv. Fame and fortune here i come (jokes probs wont even use my bit). Basically a few guys came with a camera, sound thing, and a presenter and then they just walked around.. Pretended to clean the tanks and turtles but i cleaned a turtle with the presenter! So fingers crossed i get on. Its a bbc world news thing that they do monthly to promote touristy things to do and his month was sri lanka 👍
So yeah we cleaned the tanks obvs and fed the turtles.. Then we went to teach but my monks wernt there!! And then i found out they arnt coming back 😫 because they have special buddhist teachings in the afternoon nowadays so yeah no more monks! Dont know what im going to do! At least there is the school teaching we do on wednesdays and thursdays.. Looking forward to teaching them happy birthday on thursday because its MY BIRTHDAY ON THURSDAY. Yay 🙌 so yeah after that we came back and now we are waiting for tea and then ill probabs watch a film on tv haha easy life!

Today was a normal day at the hatchery, but more babies!!!! We woke up and fed the turtles, and uncovered loads of new olive ridley babies!! Yaaay! After feeding and collecting babies we all chilled out, i sunbathed and managed to get about an hour until it bloody chucked it down! Aha a few tours and that lead us until the afternoon ☺️
I took a very nice german couple round just before the end and then we released the babies! When i say we i mean everyone else because it was tipping it down and i just stayed under cover 😹
we then had tea and now im waiting to watch kung foo panda 2 .. The life!

I have got to stop missing days! This ones a day late but…
Today we woke from our nice hotel, last night i had the best nights sleep of the whole trip! Was amazing.
Then we set off to unawatuna, my fave party place and just sunbathed for a few hours. We had some food as well and then went to galle to pick up some beautiful ice cream 👌 we went back home and it rained so much! So i just stayed inside and watched megamind on tv haha… A very relaxing day! I only took one pic that day and its an extremely unattractive selfie on the beach, i will include it anyways for your entertainment but i will throw in some photos of me teaching and stuff ☺️

So this morning, if you can call 5am morning, matt and i woke up to go see the sunrise. We met wije and we drove to the bottom of a mountain called ‘little adams peak’ so basically it was just a smaller version of the one i did before. We climbed and gained a dog at the bottom who followed us throughout the whole trek haha.. She was called foxy because she looked exactly like a fox but she was a dog, a dox if you like. So she was our spiritual animal that guided us.. Although she lead us the wrong way and we had to head back again, we got there in the end (some would say it was stupid to follow a dog (or dox) anyway but we believed in foxy). The sunrise was just beautiful!! You could properly see all the rays of light coming out from behind the mountains. It was different to adams peak and both were amazing so yeah i like sunrises now. We headed back down and went back to the hotel for breakfast.
After a shower we visited a tea plantation! It was different to the first one i visited because it was just a green tea factory.. The process is a bit simpler and the tour was a lot safer than the last one haha 😹
After that we headed to Yala National Park where we went to yet another extremely nice hotel!
We went on a SAFARI! Yala national park is the biggest park in sri lanka and omg its so beautiful. Like completely different to the sri lankan scenery ive experienced so far. We went in a jeep thing that had a load of seats and a roof on the back haha so open and unsafe but thats just how we like it. As soon as we set off we saw an elephant, then another mother elephant with a little baby! And the mother was preggers aswell!! We saw so many exotic birds and water buffaloes. Just driving round was amazing, so many lakes, forests, huge rocks, plains, fields… Everything! The best part was when we stumbled upon a tusked elephant and there was only us and another jeep to see it. It walked right up against the jeep and yes i touched it. It was just amazing to see a wild elephant so close! They are huge!!! Also made a difference it wasn’t in chains or anything.
We unfortunately didn’t see any leopards today but they are particularly rare to see so we were happy with the close encounters of the elephants.
After that excitement we headed back to the hotel and had tea, where we then played cards and slept in our wonderful beds ☺️ just a really beautiful day in all ❤️

Well.. Its friday! And that means trip day! Matt, sue and i all set off with wije in the van on the quest for ella! We set off at 8am and with stops for tea and a roti, we arrived here for 4pm. I also saw the first elephant of the trip!!! It was walking along the road with some guy. The trip actually went quite fast, probably because i was DJ for most of it haha 😉 we went through basically every type of sri lankan scenery possible haha.. Bustling towns, completely green fields upon fields, and the last part was just massive hills… And i mean bloody huge ass hills! Although it takes a long time to travel through the country at least you get to see a lot more of it!
We arrived at our hotel and it is bloody fantastic. Wije booked it for us and omg it is the nicest thing ive ever seen. Its basically built into the face of a mountain and matt and i are sharing a room.. The room is huge. And the view is amazing. I dont know how wije got us this hotel!!! But i aint complaining! Sure beats the shop i lived in for a weekend in mirissa! 😹
We changed into our swimming shorts and went about minutes down the road to a waterfall!! It was beautiful, although there were SO many monkeys!!! I managed to climb into a part where you could see the lagoon bit at the bottom but i was too afraid of drowning to jump in haha 😫 i just had visions of me cascading down this rock! No thanks, maybe the next waterfall will be a bit more gentle!
We got back, relaxed and had a HOT SHOWER! The first hot shower ive had in a month!!! I feel so much cleaner now!!!!
We are now upstairs, enjoying a G&T and loving life.
